    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Thanks iFrogMac. I'm afraid I haven't got the luxury of owning an 86U and the 82U has only recently been replaced. Are you suggesting that I should disable wifi 6?

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Hello again. Hope you're all well. I'm now back from my holiday and just to let you know that the new router is doing fine so far. No issues at all, except of course that the firmware is not the latest.

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

I don't know why, but I can't resist the temptation to reply - EVEN WHEN I KNOW I'VE GOT NO TIME! :p:D Looks like now the router has switched the 2.4ghz channel from 2 to 9. The 5ghz is still 52.

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Good evening guys. I'm gonna be going on holiday soon, but the replacement AX82U router has arrived today. I've quickly plugged it in and the good news is that it's got so much better signal compared to the older router Already, I can go outside approx 30 metres away from the house and I can...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

The SSH access procedure sounds too complex for me, so I'll give it a miss for now (unless you need me to). Regarding the firmware - I always tend to manually update it. I'm glad that we can always revert back to an older firmware should the need arise. I don't know what time the new router...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

@ColinTaylor - As far as I'm aware, the only file the RT-AX82U router saves is a .cfg file - not sure about anything else. @degrub - Yes that's one way, but it's just that the RT-AX82U router has hundreds of pages and options. But I guess I can snip images of the most common pages though. When...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Right - Got Ya! Thanks for stopping me from making a mistake because I would have ended up using the current router's cfg file to apply to the new router. I was hoping though that I could save myself time in copying a lot of info from the current router, such as the devices connected, their...

Thanks degrub - I'll certainly bear that in mind.

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Thanks mate. The current router's firmware is: 3.0.0.4.386_48664-g7ded0a1 I'll also make a note of the new router's firmware & out of box channels when it arrives. Would saving the new router's existing cfg file be enough to backup the settings and firmware? Much appreciate your tips.

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Hello again @ColinTaylor - I just wanted to give you an update. Unfortunately the router signal has got really bad. Since you've already assisted me in narrowing down any potential issues, I can only assume that this is a hardware-related problem. In order to confirm this, I placed a...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Okay, no problem. Thanks again for your help. I'll see how things go and if problem still persists, I may have to look at getting another access point (mesh).

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Thanks mate. I've followed what you've said and now said 5ghz to 48 and 2.4ghz to 11 as well as check that TX was on performance which it is. I'll see how it goes, but I do have one question which is that previously the channel bandwidth on 2.4ghz was 20/40mhz and on 5ghz it was 20/40/80mhz...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Apologies for the late reply. I'm for UK too. I did what you suggested and I kept the phone in one location with same orientation. Below are the results for 5GHz: 48 = -Between 61dBm and 63dBm @ 5.7m away 52 = Between -69dBm and 73dBm @ 11.4m away 149 = Router maximum channel is 128 and 149...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

To be honest, this is the only open-source app that I know that is supposed to give good results, unless you know of any other app? I'm going to have a problem with regards to getting another phone as I don't have one. I stood approx. 10 metres away (Router is upstairs and I'm downstairs) and...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

I followed what you said and changed 2.4ghz to ch11 and 5ghz to 80mhz/ch100. The 5ghz shows good strength on app for all channels, but now the ch4 to 11 on 2.4ghz show poor strength. This is getting weirder or the app is crap.

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

As always, thanks very much Colin for your help. Okay, so here's the thing....I'm not sure which one is the issue. My suspicious is that it's the 2.4GHz one that's the problem. So here is what I've done: I've adjusted the antennas a little - no difference I've downloader 'Wifi Analyser' app...

    ASUS-RT-AX82U Router Randomly disconnecting

Hello again. I want to say a big thank you to @ColinTaylor for all the help you provided. Since that time of making the adjustments you've recommended, the Asus router has been absolutely rock-solid with no disconnections at all, so thank you again. My only gripe is that since changing the...

Help with choosing decent CCTV ip camera for a budget DIY NAS+NVR

The dell I'm getting has a i5-7500t processor which has only 35W TDP, so surely that would be fairly cool to run anyway? With the WD having and USB3.2 Gen 1 and the Dell having USB 3.0 cause any issues such as throttling or slowing down? Also what about reliability when using an external drive...

Help with choosing decent CCTV ip camera for a budget DIY NAS+NVR

Unless, the Dell SFF can fit two 3.5" drives, it would be pointless going for the SFF case as 2 x 4tb 2.5" drives would cost me an arm and a leg. Correct me if I'm wrong, but although the MFF lacks internal storage space, it is supposed to a 10gb USB C port and at least 5 x usb 3.0 ports...

Help with choosing decent CCTV ip camera for a budget DIY NAS+NVR

With the Dell MFF having a front USB-C (Gen 2???), wouldn't that give me 10Gb/sec? If so would this be sufficient speed if I bought an external DAS drive such as WD My Book Duo RAID from ebay for £54, which has USB-C connectivity? Would it be enough to use as a combined NAS and a 4 x 5mp...
