[AX86U Pro] WIFI not working well after updating from stock to Merlin

Using Merlin for multiple years here, was on AC68 now on AX86. My GF Samsung phone also always got disconnected. While I was able to go everywhere even remote backyard and still had 5GHz, my GF phone would lose connection on 2.4 in the house. I installed WiFiAnalyzer on her phone, and her phone...

Problem with Intercept NTP client requests

Windows do not use pool.ntp.org, some devices you have no control on use different NTP servers. I had problem with distcc for instance when using multiple PC to compile files, with "time in the future" problem.

Problem with Intercept NTP client requests

My issue seems to be that TPLink is using a non-standard or not-supported protocol on the port 123 to get its date/time, so I bypass the redirect

Problem with Intercept NTP client requests

Yeah the first command tries to remove a rule, if it does not exist in your setup you have this warning, it's normal.

Problem with Intercept NTP client requests

oh god iptables... I played with it 10 years ago and remember it is nightmarish, but I know I needed to dive in it again to fix my problem :) So I checked in firewall.c how the rule is added, then googled a bit to find how to filter a particular MAC address for this rule not to apply, then how...

Problem with Intercept NTP client requests

For a long time now I have this option "Intercept NTP client requests" set to enabled, and all my devices basically are using the router as NTP server. But, one of my new device, a TP-Link tapo C200 webcam, cannot update its date/time if this option is enabled. I have to disabled it for it to...

Galaxy A51 phone keeps dropping WiFi

Interesting, thanks! Anyway on 2.4 I only have smart plugs, so I don't really care... I'll double check my 2.4 "professional settings". Everything else is wired or on 5GHz.

Galaxy A51 phone keeps dropping WiFi

I thought you should only use channel 1, 6 and 11 when using 20MHz wide channel. Imagine a 3 lanes highway. Of course you can drive between 2 lanes, but you f*ck up everything. If you use an in-between channel, like 8, your AP sees other RFs as noise, as well as APs on 6 and 11 will see your RF...

Can anyone help me to check if my RT-AC86U is part of this latest ASUS debacle

Funny enough, I am using an XB7 too (Videotron) and starting in April I had the exact same problem as you, after months and months of a forgotten setup that was running perfectly fine with 0 downtime (and everything is on a UPS). see...

AiMesh disconnecting after a few minutes

The problem was ASUS own file chknvram20230516 that got downloaded by ASD and was faulty, whatever your firmware revision or router. Starting from May 18 the right file chknvram20230518 is downloaded and everything reworks by itself :)

AiMesh disconnecting after a few minutes

I have not reverted nor reseted my RT-AX86U, I just removed the mesh node from it. Then I reseted the RP-AX56 to factory reset, and re-add it from my router. May 16 or 17 it crashed/disconnect after a few minutes, but starting from May 18 it is solid because it took the new file. @Maneck...

AiMesh disconnecting after a few minutes

Factory reset the RP-AX56 this morning and re-linked it, I connected on it to check the infamous ASD log: It seems the culprit, invalid chknvram20230516 file, is now replaced with chknvram20230518 on my setup and log file does not fill JFFS nor take 100% CPU. I guess ASUS fixed their file...

AiMesh disconnecting after a few minutes

Ok so a lot of people have the exact same problem at the same time, Asus bug on the RP-AX56 as people have different routers? EDIT: it looks like it's an asus problem that affect about every routers So this is why even an old RP-AX56 with a 2021 firmware will crash. About every ASUS router...

AiMesh disconnecting after a few minutes

I have a RT-AX86U and a RP-AX56 as a mesh (wifi backhaul). It works like this for a year. It looks like that since I flashed 388.2_2 that I have problem with the mesh. At startup, LED on the mesh is solid white, I can ping it, it has an IP address, it is in the DHCP leases and Wireless log with...

nope, it happens again, after 2 weeks, I'll contact my ISP /jffs/syslog.log:May 3 03:19:49 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 3) (Logical Port: 3) (phyId: 3) Link DOWN. /jffs/syslog.log:May 3 03:20:33 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 3) (Logical Port: 3) (phyId: 3) Link Up at 2500 mbps full duplex...

Internet going down multiple time a day :-(

So, magically, after speaking to my ISP who said that everything was working fine, the random drop stopped... I had 1-3 drop per day everyday, and for 6 days now, no drops at all. I don't know if they changed something on their modem, it has not rebooted (uptime of 6 days now). But on my...

    AX86U + RP-AX56

I think so, in the AiMesh device Management in the GUI there is enable/disable buttons for the 2.4 and 5 band, I never tried it because mine is wireless and using the 5GHz band as the backhaul. If you are wired this should not be a problem.

Internet going down multiple time a day :-(

Yes all the ethernet ports drop at the same time, I can see in the syslog of multiples routers connected to ports on the ISP modem. I will rechat with support to see...

Internet going down multiple time a day :-(

nope, it's right in front of me, light stays white, ISP checked it and it does not reboot nor loss signal. Also the XB7 does not reboot in a few seconds... between the link down and link up sometimes it's less than 10 seconds. I think my next step is to exchange it under warranty...
