Honest review of Asus WRT 5.0 (3.0.0.6 Branch)

Can't say I have much of a need for CLI. I am still just a casual Ubuntu user, and only because that is how I ended up fixing Window 10 (around 2017/2018) as a last resort after multiple W10 reinstall. Go figure. I wanted to get more experience in CLI, figured I'd get better at it with hands...

TI calculator... Could have never imagined that was part of forming your suggestion. Amazing. Like watching, from top of a mountain, deep within, a water of life, streaming through glens. Glens lush and green when not forming a stream. Or so I got from https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/glen...

I admire how your explanation is concise, it's like regex in English. I had a rough idea what commands and options do, some bells and whistles (plugins) in zsh, help me better understand what different options do (to a degree). Regex is a bit tricky to search for online, sometimes. I still had...

Greetings @glens I knew this would be interesting, and it was. diff and scp were not found. Couldn't figure out how to operate in the router, so I just copied files to USB, then played with them locally. (like this, but more files with changes to compare) nvram show > /mnt/USB/twt.default...

Though I wasn't bothered by the issue with TWT, I appreciate your reply very much. Was always curious to try SSH in general. Never had a reason to. Maybe I'll find some time during the week to give it a try.

My apologies for the delay. I updated on about 24th of January 2024. So far, only this new issue. It's an annoyance, since it does create additional steps for me whenever I reboot. I'll have to ponder on ways to improve the way I deal with it. Can't complain in general, since I don't have any...

ASUS TUF Gaming AX4200 always broadcasting WiFi, even with radio turned off

@Ubuntu_enjoyer to add to @ColinTaylor here is another link https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax59u-unidentified-wi-fi-network.87906/post-880081 Also, I used this command in Ubuntu to see which channel that mystery SSID was broadcasting from. (That is, if your username reflects your...

    ASUS RT-AX59U - Unidentified Wi-Fi Network

@Deltamoid I can't reproduce this "bug" on current firmware for: ASUS RT-AX88U Pro 3.0.0.6.102_32843 2023/11/27 Now with WPA3-Personal it appears "GHOST SSID" only broadcasts on initial boot up for <30sec and is no longer "sticky". Might get fixed for your model in a future update, if you...

Feature request asuswrt-merlin: Option to quickly disable radios from the front / status page

IMHO, not sure if this could apply in your case. "Best way" is the automated way, not having to even touch GUI – "Enable wireless scheduler" for 2.4GHz Band. To make navigation less tedious, bookmarks with keywords.

Using AdGuard as the default DNS server, is it safe to disable my browser Ad Blocker?

@drinkingbird I don't have a habit of running questionable S/W, nor sharing it. (Not more questionable than Android itself, with a track record. Like the rest.) My intent was not to increase stress, but to alleviate it, while not putting Android in jeopardy. In vain… I tried… To each their own...

Using AdGuard as the default DNS server, is it safe to disable my browser Ad Blocker?

Safe, from what? Very broad question. Compared to which Ad Blocker? Considering some browsers don't come with ad blockers, neither do routers. And they are considered safe and not vulnerable. Best I can come up with, About "Why uBlock Origin works so much better than Pi‑hole does?" ·...

No branding iron was included in the box, not even a sticker. Still free to change my mind and choose any brand I see fit for any device for any given situation in time. Others are free to make their own choices. A router from a small island made in Taiwan appears to provide more freedom of...

Latest RT-AC68U Asuswrt stock vs Merlin security

RMerlin gave a short and concise answer, and it made me curious on RMerlin's general behind the scene's workflow. How releases are balanced and prioritized between models. Solved A question about installing Merlin firmware to brand new RT-AX88U PRO

@sharkus Let me clear this up for you. You have two guides to follow. A good habit to form, installing any type of S/W and firmware, before you start jumping through hoops. Always be familiar with the official documentation. It's better to be ready if something goes wrong following any...
