Possibly in the market for a new router

Nice review, creatine, thanks! The only gaming "feature" i use is the Adaptive QoS option, and the gaming port. The rest do not apply. I thought the gaming port on the AX86U was directly connected to the CPU or something? I've mentioned before that I noticed a difference but it could very...

Possibly in the market for a new router

Looking at different sites with the 88U I'm not seeing a gaming port like on the 86U and there is no mention of it. I don't know why but I'm assuming it's on the 1st LAN port like on the 86U or is there none?

Possibly in the market for a new router

I must be fatter than I think, wobbled by a tight spot to hang up a cool leather jacket and bumped into my RT N66U, fell to the floor. Lots of loose plastic rattling around in it. Youtube'd videos on how to remove cover to clean it out but had no luck in attempting it. So I might get a cheap...

DNS that blocks Advertisements + Safe browsing?

Was using the suggested Ad blocking in the Asus DNS Assignment options in WAN and just changed to Clean Browsing under the Safe option. Is there an option that does both? Thanks! and thanks to Merlin for all the support!

    Monitor Active PC for Jitter?

Hi there, I'm using 388.1 on an AX86U I was wondering if there was a way to monitor for Jitter on a hard-line or for a specific PC I think the ROG routers have some sort of feature that does this.. or am I wrong? Thanks

    RT AX86U Gaming Port

I've used the port before but maybe I didn't have something configured right, shugs. Didn't seem to do any magic and I don't have the technical know how to verify if it indeed helps. Thanks for the reply

    RT AX86U Gaming Port

So Lan port 1 is the Gaming port. How does the AX86U need to be configured to be aware that the port is being used and to prioritize it for gaming? Are there multiple ways, or just one configuration?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

On 386.7 with my RT-AX86U It's been fine for me for a while. Can I just upgrade to 388.1 and not reset everything?

What does "WAN DNS Setting" do?

Are any of the DNS security features necessary and do they slow down gaming traffic? Thanks

    Spanning Tree Protocol?

Thanks. Sure, all devices are streaming IoT type devices. No need. Plus I have my gaming rig on the AX which I assume is better to config that way. I could be wrong though.

    Spanning Tree Protocol?

Do I need to be using Spanning Tree Protocol on either of my routers? I have my AX 86U connected to my cable modem with Wi-Fi disabled. I have two wired devices connected to it. And I have my RT N66U also connected to it for Wi-Fi duties. Does STP need to be enabled on either of them or both...

Is it possible for ECN router capability to have a toggle button? e.g. incoming and outgoing This would mainly be a gaming option to help with packet congestion

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

I considered the possibility of the connection to the server testing speed, pl, jitter, etc. Usually if my bandwidth decreases and I'm seeing packet loss and jitter to me it's been a reliable way to tell if there is a problem on the line, as of the past couple of weeks. Before I had the line...

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

How reliable is the 'Internet Speed' test with our Asus Routers? Would reliability differ from my AX86U to my AC86U? Frimware 386.5 vs a 386.2?

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

Maybe the squeaky wheel was right for 7-8 years and the ignorant techs were also lazy overpaid idiots.

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

Yeah the line was close to 10yrs old the tech estimated. I tagged the line with the replacement date by sticking a note onto the line. Yeah it's weird They've been out before and literally bypassed a new coaxial line replacement. Every. Time. It's been like this for 7-8yrs.

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

Thanks for the reply. UPDATE: Had the ISP provider come out and change the cable line drop to the house and the packet loss is now gone.

    Equipment needed for Fiber?

I've about had it with cable service in my area. Packet loss fluctuates up to 56%, up to 453ms packet jitter. Rain is always effecting service. I've looked up Fiber for my house and it's available. What do I need in terms of a router and modem for it? I have my AX86U, and my cable modem...

    Looking for PCIe Wifi card

Hi there, how's everyone doing? Good I hope I'm looking for a PCIe WiFi adapter card. I was browsing Amazon looking at adapter cards and seen Asus is making/branding PCIe WiFi cards and thought lets get an Asus card to pair up with my AX86U. I think a card that can handle 2000sq foot would...

Only one port will DSLReports speedtest

Ever have a failed Buffer bloat test from there? Doesn't matter what PC is used, only port #1 will finish the buffer bloat test, and it also doesn't matter what failed message pops up. I've tried everything it suggests to do
