Can someone please suggest the optimal/best firmware for my RT-AC68P.

I'm beyond frustrated with stock Asus fw, especially when it comes to 5GHz wireless performance.

Is Merlin's fw better than stock? Should I go that route or is there another firmware (DD-WRT?) that would make my 68P perform as it should.

Beyond frustrated. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I would start with the RMerlin firmware followed by a reset to factory defaults and then manually and minimally configuring the router to secure it and connect to your ISP.

If that doesn't prove beneficial for your needs, consider using the power level unlocked hggomes RMerlin fork before moving to anything else.

PM hggomes directly for a link to his fork based off of RMerlin's latest offering.

What exactly is frustrating you?
Range? Speed?
What 5GHz clients are you using? If you are talking about a laptop, what's the wireless adapter and the OS you have on the laptop?

RMerlin would be my best suggestion

My firmware won't change anything wifi-wise, it's the same driver as Asus.
