Announced during this year’s CES, the Helios-EX is Amped Wireless’ new tri-band Wi-Fi range extender. Powered by a quad-core processor, 128 MB of DDR3 memory, twelve amplifiers and four high gain antennas (one is internal), the Helios-EX delivers maximum link rates of 399 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 866 Mbps at each of two 5 GHz bands.
The new Wi-Fi range extender also employs Amped Wireless’ DirectLink technology, using one of the two 5 GHz bands to communicate directly with a home router - an advantage according to Amped Wireless, that provides faster performance over other competitors' products.
The Helios-EX also uses MU-MIMO, comes with five Gigabit Ethernet ports and a USB 3.0 port for file sharing options.
Available now at ampedwireless.com, the Amped Wireless Helios-EX has a retail price of $179.99. The new extender can also be found at brick and mortar stores in the following weeks.
