New Around Here
Hi all, I am new to this website (actually a newbie about routers/networking too). I recently bought ASUS RT-3100 with high hopes but so far I am very disappointed with the performance.
I've upgraded to latest Asuswrt-Merlin firmware but it didn't help either. I have AT&T GigaPower service. My question is what maximum speed should I expect on 2.4 and 5GHz networks from this router. Currently I am getting 30 Mbps on 2.4GHz and around 60Mbs on 5GHz . One of my laptops and an iPad keep loosing WiFi connection.
Are there any settings that I need to tweak to improve router's performance?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What are your ISP provided speeds (wired)?

What options are you running on the RT-AC3100?

Are your devices capable of better speeds than you're getting now?

What area(s) are being covered by the router? Is it centrally located? What is the construction of the home's walls and floors? Is the area around the home a heavily used WiFi environment?

Any and all of the links below may help your network achieve the best speeds it can do.

What are your ISP provided speeds (wired)? ~700 Mbps

What options are you running on the RT-AC3100? I am using it in default (Wireless router) mode.

Are your devices capable of better speeds than you're getting now? I believe so. My laptop has 802.11n wireless

What area(s) are being covered by the router? Is it centrally located? What is the construction of the home's walls and floors? Is the area around the home a heavily used WiFi environment? The router is centrally located on the ground floor of a 4500 sq ft home. But my laptop is less than 10 ft away from the router.
