Not until the source code is available. For now I'm forced to reuse the AC68U driver, which is why this is released as experimental.

Yes, yes, indeed ... I mean, after that - then it would be usable for a non-experimental version, right ?

wget: not an http or ftp url: https://XXXXXXX

seems wget is not compiled with secure protocols @merlin.
could you compile next releases with https support?

Install Entware (or Debian!)

https://www.asuswrt.eu/how-to-install-entware-arm/

then

Code:
opkg install wget

or use curl?

I did install entware instead of optware now. all working fine, with a newer wget version.
but i still get wget: not an http or ftp url: when i try to download files from https sources.

EDIT:
got it working with curl. thx for hint.
but the wget version in entware repo still seems compiled without https support.

Probably irrelevant now if curl works...although I couldn't emulate my original wget https:// call with curl, but that is probably because I can't RTFM :D

Issue the following commands to verify the version...

Code:
wget --help

/opt/bin/wget --help

wget-ssl is working ;-)

Busybox's wget does not support https. Use Curl instead.

I am unable to go back to stock from Merlin and DDWRT. Any idea what's going on? The only difference since last time is that I changed the CFE, that's it. Tried to do a factory defaults from telnet and gui but nothing.:confused:

Solved: Had to revert back to 376 then flash 378. Looks like Asus implemented a safe-flashing check.
Can't wait for a new Merlin release!

I have AC87U with 378.50.

I really do the factory reset after upgrading to 378.50!

I have some problem.

1. with IOS device, I encounter the 5G wifi link existed, but can not surf the net.
Sometimes, can not link the wifi, wifi password is wrong (must restart IOS device or
AC87U)
(very often on my iPhone 6 and iPad AIR 2

2. The 5G wifi signal disappeared, when the 5G wifi led on the AC87U can not light up or
twinkle. (not very often situation, but one time in a week)

3. It's all 5G wifi problem, 2.4G got no problem!

Thanks!!

I recently updated to this version on my N66u and now every few days both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi disappear but I can still access the internet and LAN via Ethernet connection.

I did a factory restore after update. Had this router for 2 years and never had this problem until updating to 378.50

I found nothing on the log file and a reboot fixes the WiFi problem.

To be quite honest if your using the N66U you would be much better off with John's fork firmware, rock solid and much better signal and range when it comes to the N66U :)

You probly coming from an old FW version , try this

1. Power off
2. Power on holding the WPS button until the power led begins flashing
3. Release the WPS button and let the router boot up
4. Apply the new firmware and do the minimum in the wizard once it boots up
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3
6. Manually reapply settings in the gui . Reboot one final time after new settings in place

Would you say the same for the AC66R? Seeing that its based on same box and is a little older now.

RT-AC68R, RMerlin 378.50 with factory reset and manual setup from scratch. I initially kicked off Adaptive QoS and re-ordered the "Applications" to prioritize VoIP. Seemed to work fine. Then I went back and found that the Apps were no longer displayed on the "Adaptive type" page under Adaptive QoS->QoS tab. It's just blank between "Highest" and "Lowest".

I re-installed firmware, did a factory reset and got the Apps back. Then re-loaded my most recent configuration file and they disappeared again, even though QoS was turned off when I saved the config.

Any ideas? I can start re-config from scratch again, but worried I might end up in the same predicament.

While I'm asking dumb questions, is there any way to better understand the App classes, what parameters they are defined by -- port numbers etc?

I'm finding it frustratingly hard to confirm that QoS is working as intended.

Thanks!
One thing that jumps out is the items in bold above. You wouldn't want to reload your old config as that totally defeats the purpose of factory default reset. It effectively makes it such that you never reset in the first place.

It depends on what version you are coming from. Read the first post of this thread for info on doing a factory reset.

As for your 5g wifi problems and iOS devices, join the club. Several of us here have the same problem and no fix as of yet even with ASUS latest build.

Thanks for this guide, I will try it when I get home.

I did come from an old version and only restored to default once firmware updated.

The 378 firmwares are based on a 64 MB firmware partition, so you must come from a firmware that was already compiled with 64 MB support. That means 378.50 from me, or 376.3626 from Asus.
