Right

Right, but how are the WAPs going to be powered? Solar/Wind & battery?

hey,
we can power them from the restaurant/bars with "mini-UAPs" that can supply them w power for 20h if we have a power-out :)

it looks pretty good right now - we have a shopping list and I'm about to order everything...

Hey!

The sector-antenna is good for 52km+ and the Nanobeams for 5km+, so hopefully we are in the clear. We should have line-of-sight for almost all point-to-points.

thanks!

You are generally looking at bridge-to-bridge though. Not bridge to access point. So having something like a 14dBi antenna on one end and a 3dBi on the other is going to dramatically cut down on range compared to a 14dBi on both ends.

Also those are generally maximum ranges in perfect weather with no Fresnel zone issues. And you'll have Fresnel zone issues here unless using towers. 2.4GHz at 1km has an 18ft Fresnel zone. So if you have a 1km distance, you'll need the bridge and access point to both be located a minimum of 9ft above the ground and probably better to be closer to 15-20ft so that you clear people on the beach, umbrellas, dunes, etc. (unless located fairly far behind any potential beach goers, but you still have the dune issue). You need the Fresnel zone to be at least 60% clear, or better 80+% clear or else you'll get significant attenuation on the wireless link.

You also want to be closer to several dB above the minimum required signal strength for the maximum MCS rate for the bridge and access point. Reason why is capacity. You don't want some pookey 22Mbps link, you are going to want all you can wring out of the wireless link.
