https://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/HelpDesk_Download/Hey, I'm trying to downgrade to the john9527 fork to my N66U. When I go the ASUS support/download page, I can't get the utility to show up for download. I have to click a few times to get the firmware files to show up, but eventually they do. What am I doing wrong?
Yep! Got it all worked out! Still can't figure out why my network is blocking the ASUS download site. Oh well...You need to set the router in rescue mode and upload the firmware via the "mini web" interface or Asus recovery tool...
Yes I had problems finding it in the past (I think my ad-blocker was interfering with things).Apparently this utility must of been pulled from their site as it's no where to be found in spite of a FAQ stating otherwise dated September of 2017.

I looked under two different models and all that is available are firmware versions, NO utility. In fact there isn't a "Utilities" section, just "BIOS & FIRMWARE".
Yes indeed. It had me fooled for a long time. What a stupid setup!
I've never used it but I believe it's Asus' built-in BitTorrent client. Not to get OT, but I have been wanted to ask somewhere, what exactly is this "Download Master" about??
Because the BitTorrent client runs (continuously) on the router rather than your PC.But, what does than have to do with their Routers?
As I said, I've never used it myself. You set the d/l up using the PC software and it will store the file(s) there regardless of the state of the PC?
I have seen more than one post stating issues (problems) with this program.
There's never been a special firmware for restoration, just the normal firmware files.I know there has always been special (smaller) firmware-trx files for restoration.
