I am looking for some assistance. I am trying to go back to the latest ASUS firmware but it won't seem to take. Then I noticed he latest build of the Merlin fork states the following:
  • Added ability to change the HTTP access port for the router gui and bind that port to only the router address
IMPORTANT: If you wish to downlevel the fork firmware or move to a non-fork firmware, you should reset this port to the default value of 80 prior to loading the firmware. Failure to do so will prevent gui access from WAN over http should you desire that option.
Can someone please tell me how I make that change. I just sold the router and I need to get it back to factory specs. I appreciate any assistance. If I need to go into the code, please advise how to do so (newbie!!). Thanks!!

Did you actually change the http port? It's an option on the Administration > System page.

But most likely you are seeing the need for the bootloader to be updated if you are moving to the latest ASUS OEM code on an AC68. See this post (and the following few posts on reasons an upgrade may not take).

Thank you so much for your help. The key was to load version 376.3626 first. I found it online, loaded it and everything worked perfectly. Thank you again for your assistance.
