New Around Here
Hi

From the Comcast block on the outside wall of my house, they brought coax TV cables to the two rooms, drilling the holes in their walls:

1) Living room has cable modem (but I want to replace it with SBG6782-AC which has MoCa built-in -
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJ7Y7MU/?tag=snbforums-20):

Comcast coax cable goes from the wall to a 2Mhz spliter - to Comcast set-top box (DVR) and to Internet cable-modem

2) Bedroom has small Samsung Smart TV and no Comcast set-top box:
coax cable from the wall goes to small Comcast digital adapter and from it - to the TV's coax jack

I would like to have MoCA adapter in the bedroom and Ethernet cable from it - to TV's Ethernet input

--------------------------------

Questions:
a) what is MoCA setup for each room (where on the coax cables)?

b) It's single-family house - would I still need a MoCA filter in each room to prevent signal loss and improve performance and if so - where?

Thanks

You'll probably be fine with replacing the Comcast modem perhaps, the SBG6782AC is a decent device - while MOCA is nice, it's key points are 11ac support (along with 3 stream 11n on 2.4GHz), and the DOCSIS 3.0 support on the WAN side..

Keep the Coax to the bedroom Comcast TV mini-Box, and let's the SmartTV stuff go over wifi...

Hulu/Netflix/other SmartTV apps will be fine over WiFi...

If you feel the need for a filter, you only need one, and that's in the Comcast side of the demarc, likely, they may have already installed one for you on the pedestal on the curb...

No, it's why I decided to research MoCA - with Wi-Fi on Smart TV, I still suffer with stale movie screen from time to time and very slow Browser there...
:-(
