I purchased the D-Link dwa-192 ac1900 wireless usb network adapter because it is supposed to have drivers for Windows 10. I downloaded and installed the correct driver from the D-Link site which says that it supports Windows 10, and afterwards when I looked under hardware info it says hardware protocol 802.11n, not ac. I called D-Link and was asked what speed I was getting...I am getting very good speeds from speedtest.net and the wireless speed in Windows shows as 1.3Gbps. So I was told that it actually is running in AC mode but there must be "something" with Windows 10 that it is displaying 802.11n and not ac.. Is this at all a plausible explanation considering the performance I'm getting?

exactly where did you read this as i have a dwa-192 here and its states its 1900ac

and where did you get these win 10 drivers from as they are not listed on the dlink web site as far as i can tell

correct if you connect to a 5 gig wireless AC router like the 5300

however if you connect to the 5300 2.4 gig i get 450M connection which is the wireless N standard , it should go to 600M but for some reason its only 450M

anyways as long as you are getting 1.3 gig sync on 5 gig your doing fine

I'm using the driver under the 1.03.B04 download which says it is compatible with Windows 10 in the release notes. I just checked on the 2.4GHz band, I'm getting 216.5 Mbps and I'm outside about 110 ft from the router. On the 5Ghz band I'm getting stable 1.3 Gbps. I am running Windows 10 Insider Preview 14332, and when I click on the wireless icon in the taskbar and click on hardware properties it says:

Protocol: 802.11n
Network Band: 5GHz
Network Channel: 36
Manufacturer: D-Link Corporation
Descripton: D-Link DWA-192 AC1900 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter
Driver Vrsion 1030.0.515.2015

It works in Build 10586 but not in 14332.
In build 10586 it shows 600 on 2,4GHz and 1.3 in 5GHz and in build 14332 it shows 289 on 2.4GHz and 1.3 on 5GHz on my DWA-192.
