Is such a wireless router going to be out soon?

Xfinity is moving to Docsis 3.1 in my area and is going to be rolling out the their gigabit service here soon. I assume they will provision the 1Gbps to be slightly more than 1 Gbps. I also assume they will offer a 2Gbps tier using Docsis 3.1 soon.

The Arris SB8200 will be shipping soon and the box images show certified for Xfinity.

It has two 1Gbe ports. Hopefully it will support 2Gbps in a load balanced mode.

Is there a sub $1k option for making use of 1-2Gbps WAN bandwidth?

If I have to go the pfSense+wireless AP route, does anybody offer a prebuilt power efficient setup with dual 1Gbe WAN ports and 7-8 1Gbe LAN ports?

I currently have a Netgear R7500. Is there a way to change one of the LAN ports to a WAN port on it? If yes how does one add load-balancing?

Yes,

ASUS will be launching their ASUS BRT-AC828 4x4 WiFi router soon for retail capable of all of the things you have mentioned.

As for actual pricing and availability, do check with your local ASUS representatives for more information

Thanks for the pointer. Sounds like a nice router. I will research it further.
