I'm trying to setup dual WAN with a 3g usb stick.
When I plug the USB stick, the router (AC56U) recognizes it, and the UMTS light starts to blink, so I think that it should be working.

I configured it using the fail over (see screnshot)
I tried to test the configuration by disconnecting the ADSL cable from my external modem, but it didn't suceed
I also tried to disconnect the ethernet cable from the wan port, but the 3g modem is never used.

Any help?
Thank you in advance

3g usb stick.
first question is the usb stick on the compatibility list for asus

have you tried setting the usb stick as the primary wan and making sure you actually have internet connectivity

you also understand fallover is not instantaneous

Well, actually it is not supported.
I thought it was because of the blue light that indicates the presence of UMTS signal...
Also it works with another router by Vodafone.

Any one using ZTE K3806-Z - Vodafone, maybe it needs just a trick?

First try your modem as primary source of internet. I'm more then sure that it just doesn't work with Asus router.

I've tried to configure it as primary WAN, but asus router tells me that there's no SIM card

How can I manually test it through ssh?
I found guides about using wvdial, but it's not currently installed

Actually the device works:

Code:
comgt -d /dev/ttyACM1
SIM ready
Waiting for Registration..(120 sec max)
Registered on Home network: "vodafone IT",2
Signal Quality: 3,0

Any help on how to connect manually?

A problem might be that it is trying to use /dev/ttyACM0, see usb.log
Code:
No or unknown response.
done.
Incorrect SIM card or can't input the correct PIN/PUK code.
VAR: modem_enable(1) modem_autoapn(0) modem_act_node(ttyACM0) modem_type(tty) modem_vid(6610) modem_pid(4117)
     modem_isp(Vodafone) modem_apn(web.omnitel.it)
PIN: detect PIN if it's needed.
No or unknown response.
done.
Incorrect SIM card or can't input the correct PIN/PUK code.
