High CPU utilisation following install of merlin

Running a RT-AC5300

Currently seeing 100% utilisation on one core, can ssh to device but no prompt is returned.

In addition openvpn access is very slow to unusable along with the UI not responding periodically.

Oh and of course Rescue mode isn't working.

Which version of Merlin's firmware did you install?

Which firmware were you running, including version number, beforehand?

Did you restore the router to factory default settings after flashing with Merlin and then manually configure your settings?

And when you say Rescue Mode isn't working, could you detail how you tried to access it?

I was running 3.0.0.4_380_3941

I didn't reset to factory defaults after flashing, but have attempted since to no avail.

I tried turning off the router and holding in the reset buttons for circa 5 seconds for the slow flash but could not find the device on my network.

Unplug any USB disk that might be present, one of the media services might get stuck while scanning the disk content.

The only connections in to the unit are ethernet lan and wan along with power
