Got a Linksys WRT1900AC over the weekend - so far so good on the network front. Easy setup & speedy connections.

The major reason I need the attached storage is play media on my Samsung smart tv. When files were shared off the old router (Netgear R6100) or from a computer, it was possible to fast forward video or enter a specific time to jump to. No such option exists for the Twonky server that seems to come with the new router. Not being able to choose a time is a dealkiller if it can't be resolved - I will have to return it and get another router if it can't be resolved.

So is it possible to edit the Twonky settings (though I don't see any such options at http://10.144.196.101:9999/). Or maybe the storage device needs different settings in the Linksys admin area?

I also see there's an 'OpenWRT' thing which is open source firmware? That sounds like it could help - and seems like another rabbithole to go down...

I solved this via the Twonky settings at http://10.144.196.101:9999.

Go to Advanced Setup -> Media Receivers - there you'll see each connected device's MAC address. Find out the MAC address for your tv and change the device type from Generic Media Receiver to whatever your device is (in my case, it's a Samsung Smart TV).

Then restart the media server (there'll be a link at the top of the page) and VOILA.
