New Around Here
I have an Asus RT-AC68U with Merlin 378.55.
All my hardware get a fixed ip-adres with DHCP Manually Assigned IP in the router.

The probleem i have is that my phones in the house use 5Ghz and when the signal is lost it switches to 2,4Ghz.

In DHCP-Server I put my phone mac adres with ip: 192.168.0.14 and that works fine.
Then my phone lost 5Ghz wifi so it switch to 2,4Ghz and then it get an other ip-adres x.x.x.229 and not keeping the same adress. Mac adres is the same for both bands.

The log file

Aug 31 09:51:03 dnsmasq-dhcp[480]: DHCPNAK(br0) 192.168.0.229 50:2e:5c:ef:b4:4b wrong address
Aug 31 09:51:04 dnsmasq-dhcp[480]: DHCPDISCOVER(br0) 50:2e:5c:ef:b4:4b
Aug 31 09:51:04 dnsmasq-dhcp[480]: DHCPOFFER(br0) 192.168.0.14 50:2e:5c:ef:b4:4b
Aug 31 09:51:04 dnsmasq-dhcp[480]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) 192.168.0.14 50:2e:5c:ef:b4:4b
Aug 31 09:51:04 dnsmasq-dhcp[480]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.0.14 50:2e:5c:ef:b4:4b android-7e37a70bdf7192b0

I think the problem is that the router still thinks that x.x.x.14 is still in use the then gives an ip from the pool.

Problem is that i use Domoticz and I use that ip-adres to check if the phone is at home and becasue the 229 adres is random a can't check on the second ip-adres.

Is there a way to force the phone to always use the same ip-adres.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding....your log extract isn't matching up with what you are saying. Assuming the mac starting with 50:2e is your android phone the log shows

The phone requesting an ipaddress 192.168.0.229 which is denied by the router (DNAK - wrong address)
The router then offers 192.168.0.14 which is accepted.

This will happen if your phone has roamed and connected to a different router/access point where it got the .229 address.

I have more AP's in use indeed but they all havr DHCP off and get it from the ASUS for an IP address . The change of ip-address happens when i log off from 5Ghz en log on to 2,4 Ghz.

I logged in on 5Ghz and get IP x.x.x.14 wich is good.
I switch over to 2.4Ghz and get x.x.x.229 ip wich is not good.
When i look with ARP -A x.x.x.14 is still in the list

I think it treys a new address because x.x.x.14 is still in use at that moment. And the DNAK is maybe because the reserved MAC-adres is in the DHCP list.

If the problem is a AP is there something i can do about.

It looks like someone is assigning an ip of .229 other than the router.....could be an open access point not even under your control if it has a stronger signal and you've accidently connected in the past. Double check that the SSID is what you expect when you have the .229 address.

Thank You. Indeed my TV Decoder have built in WiFi for AP. When i switch it off all is working fine. So have to check the settings and i think there have been an firmware update of the box and DHCP is back on.
