New Around Here
Some weeks ago I had a problem with my LaCie 5 big Network 2 because one of the disk was in fault. Then, I updated the firmware of the device (was outdated), backup data and rebuild the RAID.

Everything went OK. And no data lost. Right.

When I started reordering the information in LaCie suddenly the communication with the device is lost and only get reconnect when I restart the unit.

Every time I copy files to LaCie, the device goes down. I can copy few little files but when I try to copy a whole directory the unit goes down an must to restart.

Today the communication was down and I've connected by http and this connection was on. When I went to File Explorer of the dashboard of the device I saw the tree of my storage structure but when I tried open one branch I get (something like, I can't write it):
opendir(NAS://B--box/104/ Gallery 104) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: "fsAccessWrapper::dir_opendir"

Now I am doing the restart directly from the dashboard, but it's the same, suddenly stops browsing.
Can somebody help me?

He's dying Jim, and there's not a damn thing we can do to fix it... - Dr. Leonard McCoy sotto voce...

It's either a bad drive, or some other HW failure - at this point, I'm hoping that you've got a backup of the device, because just rebuilding the array and flashing firmware likely won't fix it...

Thank you for the bad news.

I'm waiting LaCie puts another firmware in web. Otherwise, I will do:
.- try backup data again.
.- find the way yo reinstall last firmware. Can somebody help me? I read a lot of post about it but I don't know how start.
.- If not running: rebuild the RAID.
.- If Not running: buy another NAS. What NAS do you buy for a compaña with 20 clients for 5 or 7 TB?

If you have a backup of the important data, I would suggest you do a full reset of the unit.

If it continues behaving the same, time to consider at least a 4 bay but much better a 6 bay or higher QNAP or Synology (only) for 20 clients and 7TB of data to share.

With a 6 bay or higher NAS, configure the first two drives strictly for the NAS os. The remainder can be in a RAID5 or higher array to give you the redundancy and capacity you need.

I'd take the drives out and give the LaCie to the eWaste people. Then get a 2 bay Synology or QNAP. If need be, buy one that's 1-2 years older than most recent but sold as new. Like a DS214 which is likely cheaper by a bit.

Cut your losses.
