SEM pretty much nails it - one has to be careful, as different switches handle things in their own way - speaking from experience here. Most of the broadcom based switches should all behave similar as they are usually based on Broadcom's fastpath firmware.
Very important to test things across all attached devices on the VLAN's to ensure that you have the desired outcome - esp. when working with port based VLAN's.
