Just replaced my aging AC66u-b1 and got the AC86u loaded up latest merlin and factory reset.

CPU load average is high? This is directly after a factory reset with no changes -
CPU Load Average (1, 5, 15 mins) 3.46, 2.64, 1.35

Looking under top in SSH CPU usage is steady between 0% and 10% And load averages on top show the same as the GUI does.

CPU0: 0.0% usr 0.0% sys 0.0% nic 100% idle 0.0% io 0.0% irq 0.0% sirq
Load average: 3.37 2.72 1.44 2/135 3375

But why is "nic" at 100% is this normal?

Thanks!

IIRC the CPU load is calculated differently for the processor used in the RT-AC86U.

What you're seeing is 100% idle:

CPU0:
0.0% usr
0.0% sys
0.0% nic
100% idle
0.0% io
0.0% irq
0.0% sirq

Ahh thanks! Weird that load averages are off, while CPU is normal.

Now hoping that the CPU 2 doesnt go full 100% after a few weeks of uptime when DPI is enabled. It does this on my AC66u_b1.

Main reason for my upgrade is with IP traffic monitoring and DPI with the 66u was I could only get 300mbps ish from the WAN due to HW acc disabled. Now I can have those on the 86u, and get at around 920mbps over the wan port.

But what do those load averae smean then if not what they usually mean on unix systems?
with 100% idle there is no reason for anything to be blocked right?
