QNAP just introduced it latest line-up of NAS products, the TS-x51A series, that not only gives customers access to its files over the network, but also adds a direct access component.

Powered by a 14nm Intel dual-core Celeron 1.6 GHz CPU, the new NAS series also includes, depending on the model, 2 or 4 GBs of dual channel DDR3L-1600 RAM - expandable to 16 GB, an HDMI 1.4b port and 2 or 4 drive bays.

Here’s a breakdown of the models in the series:

• TS-251A-2G – 2 drive bays, 2GB RAM
• TS-251A-4G – 2 drive bays, 4GB RAM
• TS-451A-2G – 4 drive bays, 2GB RAM
• TS-451A-4G – 4 drive bays, 4GB RAM

Other features for the TS-x51A series includes QNAP’s QTS 4.2 NAS operating system, private cloud access for mobile/remote devices, virtual machine support and an IR remote control.

The most notable feature about the new NAS series is the USB 3.0 port on the front of the chassis. The Micro-B USB interface gives connected devices faster access to data stored on the TS-x51A. Acting as a DAS, the direct connection gives QNAP customers a faster option to use when moving files to and from the TS-x51A.

The new TS-251A and TS451 NASes are now shipping in the US and Canada, however pricing was not available.

The TS-251A-2G costs about $330 in Taiwan, with the TS451A-2G coming it at around $422 and the TS451A-4G is around $469. This is including 5% local sales tax.
