According to this link they have different CPUs? Or is the link wrong?

That table doesn't mention what CPU is running the actual firmware. Both routers use the same BCM4709 to run the core firmware. They have additional processors that handle specific radios, but those aren't running the main firmware itself. Think of them as you would think of a GPU inside your computer.

The RT-AC3200 is only useful if you have a lot of wireless devices, mixing low-speed (like phones) and high-speed (like computers or media streamers), so you can split them between the two 5 GHz radios.

For a single user, the cheaper RT-AC87U will do the job, or the RT-AC68P if you are in the US and have access to this updated version of the RT-AC68U.
