"Optimized for xbox" - what does this setting actually do?

    This "optimized for xbox" setting has made me curious as there's no description for it anywhere...

    I had very bad afp/smb file transfer throughput problem between Macbook Pro (OS X 10.9) and Synology NAS using 5 GHz band (RT-N66U, Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.35_4) - all bigger file transfers essentially "died on me".

    Then in absence of better solutions I activated this option and... the dreaded problem was gone! It would just be interesting to know, how was this able to solve my problem.

    It disables a form of error correction normally used by the wireless driver on packets.
