I have a strange thing happening... i am on 368.51 and used NVRAM to restore values after upgrading.

I create a crontab to reboot the asus AC68 every morning and i found that after that, the PF setup completely disappears...

solution is to run again teh nvram set part with all the PF details, but it is strange and i'd need to solve it.

any idea what could be wrong?

thanks,

Maurizio

How did you use NVRAM to restore values?

Did you do a reset to factory defaults after flashing the latest firmware?

Which firmware did you come from?

Oh, I'm sure you mean 378.51, correct?

Hi, thanks for the help.

I made a reset using the WPS button as indicated 'somewhere'... And yes it is the last FW, sorry, coming from an older one from Merlin still, i think 48, not sure, but one that was requested to hard reset...

still disappearing... its' no happenign at reboot, at least from shell. in the morning, after the croned reboot, they disappear. so i created a quick script to nvram them back (I don't reboot though... is that a problem?)

Anyhow... i'll wait a new FW to reflash it from scratch.

I am back to this topica, as still i have PF "cleanups" regulardly. still cannot identify why.

I find this in the log:
Apr 18 06:32:14 rc_service: httpd 874:notify_rc restart_firewall
Apr 18 06:32:15 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_ppp0_eth0)!
Apr 18 06:32:23 rc_service: httpd 874:notify_rc restart_firewall
Apr 18 06:32:23 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_ppp0_eth0)!
Apr 18 07:00:16 rc_service: httpd 874:notify_rc restart_firewall
Apr 18 07:00:16 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_ppp0_eth0)!
Apr 18 07:00:37 rc_service: httpd 874:notify_rc restart_firewall

Not sure if could be the reason...

Any idea out there ?

thanks!

M

You are running out of nvram. Several posts on this topic on the forum. Bb

Ok... I didn't find any, will look better.

So this means i should clean it up... What can I do, to give me an idea?

Thanks,

M

i followed the instructions, removed some stuff, now:
NVRAM usage 53562 / 65536 bytes
seem enough, right?

But still i have PF disappearing!

help...

M

I have this as well.
My port forwarding rules are disappearing every morning.

Running a RT-AC68R on rMerlin 378.53
My
NVRAM usage 43844 / 65536 bytes

Is that amount the problem?

Thanks in advance

I've gone up and down in firmware versions, all with Factory Reset.
Anyway it's seems to be occuring here:

May 23 06:01:57 rc_service: httpd 1199:notify_rc restart_firewall
May 23 06:01:57 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_eth0_eth0)!

It's driving me crazy since I have to reload my settings every morning.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem.

If you are asking me,

1) Installed a USB Flash Drive 1 GB (Don't know if this helped or not)
2) Installed and currently running 378.54_alpha3.
3) After Firmware install, did Factory Reset
4) Manually redid all my DHCP and Port Forwading rules.

I have not had a single problem since

Good luck

I did a clean install with the latest firmware, doing a reset from the menu option after the upgrade. Then used the NVRam utility to recreate the setups.

Until now seems working...
