Recommendations for router with decent firewall - maybe DrayTek?

I started by benchmarking my network to get a baseline performance figure. Two quad core Linux systems on the same subnet connected via a Netgear ProSafe gigabit switch gave speeds of ~940Mbit/sec as tested with iperf:

iperf.he.net is a nice benchmark on the WAN side - port 5001 for iperf, port 5201 for iperf3 - the clients generally sort that one...
 
I would go with the Sophos UTM as you get way better protection than the ERL for the same speeds (or better if you ran the UTM on x86). Sure you could turn the ERL into a UTM with the features that sophos has but it is a very very painful and difficult process where you will encounter issues. If you want a UTM your choices are either some linux server or a UTM distribution like Sophos.
