Hi all, need to pick your brains.

Current network consist of ..

VM Vivid 200
Asus AC66 + Merlin 380.62_1 + AB Blocker
Netgear WN2500RP Repeater

CAT6 Router
Windows 2012R2 Plex Server

Wireless-AC Router
Windows HTPC

Wireless-N On Router
2 x Microsoft Lumia
1 x Sky HD Box

Wireless-N Netgear
1 x Ipad
2 x Androids Tablets
1 x x Chrome Cast
1 x Microsoft Lumia

Wireless-A Netgear
Nothing, signal a bit weak

CAT6 Netgear
Windows 10 PC
Playstation 3

As you can see the AC is under utilised and I would like to retired the Netgear.

So the questions are, what would you replace the AC66 with, so that it in turn can replace the Netgear?
I am right in thinking the AC66 can use both frequencies in WDS mode ?
Should I have the AC66 connect back the router via AC?

At some point, when I get my man cave sorted, the AC66 will connect back the router via CAT6, so will become a standard AP.

why replace? The only replacement would be a router like pfsense or mikrotik as thats a step up. The router you have is fine as long as it supports your WAN speeds and what you use it for.

If you replace the netgear you can get many decent wifi AC routers/APs such as ubiquiti, ASUS, netgear r7000, and other brands.
