Router speed issues

Hello,

I recently switched from fios to time warner so I am having issues with my Asus RT-66u router.

I am using it as a repeater on the second floor with the modem on the first floor.

I set it up as a repeater, created new SSID and hit apply but I am only getting 1mbps when using my phone on wifi.

What firmware? What phone? How far away is the router located as a repeater? How far away from the repeater is the phone connecting from? Is the same ssid used? Are you sure you're connecting to the repeater?

Please give as much information as you can.

not sure the firmware number but it was up to date.
The router is on the first floor and repeater on the second.

I had the same set up when I was on FiOS
