Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a new router and want to use my VPN PIA Private Internet Access account with it. I do a lot of surfing and streaming. What would you recommend. VPN is a must.
I have the following devices.....

Wireless
2 - iPhone 6
2 - Mac Laptops, 1 is a from 2007ish and the other is 2012ish
1 - 3 Gen Apple TV

Wired
2 - computers
1 - Raspberry Pi2
1 - Printer

I was looking at the
Netgear AC1900 (R7000)
ASUS AC1900 (RT-AC68U)
any others??

Also any benefit going to the ASUS AC 2400 or AC3100 or similar?

For the AC3100, yes (forget about the AC2400 products).

The RT-AC88U and RT-AC5300 will also give additional benefits for VPN. Faster processors, more ram and bigger nvram will all help to give a better overall experience. The downside today? YMMV, as these are not as mature as they might need to be for all different users.

The forks of RMerlin's firmware will also squeeze more performance out of existing, stable routers (such as the john9527 and the hggomes branches). However, they can't add hardware, which is what VPN needs for better performance.
