My network setup is as follows:

Cable modem -> WAN port on an RT-AC66U
RT-AC66U LAN port -> gigabit network switch -> RP-AC68U LAN port

I have the RP-AC68U set up as an access point, and it has it's own unique WIFI SSID's

The RP-AC68U is set to receive 192.168.1.2 as it's IP reservation from the RT-AC66U which is the default 192.168.1.1.

When I try to connect a device via WIFI to the to RP-AC68U, it takes longer than 10 minutes to connect and receive an IP. Devices plugged into the LAN ports of the RP work perfect and instantly receive IP's.

Why is this? I have restarted all my devices. The RP is running the latest firmware, and my RT is running the latest Merlin release. Still the issue persists.

Should I factory reset it and try the setup again? Do I have a bad unit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am having the same problem, what is interesting is looking in the wireless log the AP is not sending any packets back to the client, just receiving them while it's trying to connect. For me, the "TX Packet" stays at a measly 3 while the "RX packet" climbs and climbs.
