New Around Here
Hi Merlin,

I am using RT-AC87U and using the latest 380.57 and found that the 5GHz Android battery drain issue still exist.

As I saw in ASUS support page that their 3.0.0.4.378.9383 firmware on 2015/12/11 already fixed the issue.

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9383
- Release Notes –
- Added Movistar Triple VLAN profile in IPTV setting page
- Fixed too many repeat information in system log.
- Fixed Traffic analyzer issue UI issue when changing the data.
- Added workaround for Android devices power drain issue.
- Fixed Adaptive QoS bandwidth setting issue.
- Fixed low samba transfer throughput issue when enable bandwidth limiter.
- Fixed web history related issue.
- Fixed abnormal bandwidth increasing in bandwidth monitor.
- Fixed VPN client UI issue when using Firefox.
- Fixed wireless channel issue when set 2.4G channel in 12 or 13 (only for EU region)
- Fixed dual wan ping time watch dog issue which might cause .false fail over to secondary wan.
- Fixed Bandwidth monitor and Web history UI issue which was caused by "<" or ">" in SSID.

Will the future release of Marlin firmware going to adopt the fix or I missed something on the setting?

Thanks in advance.

RMerlin's fork is based off of Asus' 380.xx source code.

Asus is currently running dual forks (378.xx and 380.xx) code for many models.

It is not known when Asus will merge all the fixes from the old fork with all the improvements in the new fork.

RMerlin is on indefinite break right now due to health reasons (hope you're feeling better already @RMerlin) and all work on his fork is on hold.

The above is the situation in a nut shell.

Patience is required.

If not a little prayer too.

Sorry to hear that RMerlin not feeling well and hope he will recover soon.

Thank you for the clarification.

For me is no big deal since I could force the phone to use the 2.4GHz without any issue.
