I've seen some recommendations that say to use the same SSID (and of course security settings and password) for both 2.4 and 5 radios and let the clients decide which one to connect to and potentially roam between them. Is this a good idea? Are there known issues where clients may prefer one radio over the other?

Also, should the WiFi settings be left on Auto? Does the firmware do a good job at selecting good channels and high performance settings (e.g. channel width)?

Thanks. Now in practice does this work well? What are people's experiences with this approach?

Also, Auto settings for the wifi settings or manually picking channels and widths?

Depends on the router. Some scan only once when they boot. Others assign channels other than 1, 6, 11 in 2.4 GHz, even when they are the only channels used.
