New Around Here
in tomato ive been able to save changes to files using this command "nvram setfile2nvram /path/to/modified/file"

is there an equivalent command in merlin?

So, for example /etc/smb.conf is stored in jffs? I'm trying to modify the root filesystem. Is that not possible on this firmware?

No, it's dynamically generated by the router when the service is started.

nonetheless, modifying /etc/smb.conf, and saving it in /jffs/configs seems to have achieved the result i was looking for. later ill probably move just the modifications to a conf.add file. super useful!

Ovewriting the entire smb.conf however means that if you make any change to your configuration, these changes won't get applied.
