Should I get the new Lenovo LaVie Z or the Carbon X1 Ultrabook?

New Around Here
Hi Guys, I'm interested in getting a new notebook, one that is lightweight and is very easy to carry around. I read about Lenovo's new LaVie Z the so-called "lightest" notebook. And I was thinking if this is a good buy or not? Brand new price starts at $1,699.99 which is somewhat expensive. But I saw a site where I can get it for as low as $1409 http://thepcenthusiast.com/lenovo-ecoupons-discounts-2015/
I guess my second option would be the Carbon X1 (3rd Gen) which was actually my first option. Not to mention, the Carbon X1 is cheaper as well. I need something fast and very portable. Most tasks I do are documents and photo related stuff. Let me know what you think guys. Thanks for the input!

If you are willing to pop $1700.00 on a notebook, have you considered getting a "gaming" laptop? They are built for speed which you mentioned you needed. Also they usually have high end graphics too which I'm sure you'll appreciate doing photo related stuff. Asus' ROG (Republic of Gamers) Line of notebooks are pretty good and you can get cheaper than $1700.00.

Hmm,
ROG is not light. I have 17" ROG, have to carry it in a bag pack made for it. OP has to decide what his priority is,
speed, versitility or weight of a laptop. For portability I have an old iPAD. Also buying anything 1st gen. is generally not a good idea considering it's initial price and possible bug or weakness in design. Example is MS Surface.
