Recently I had very strange problem with Skype, which I never used during last 6-7 years

I am a road warrior, so I set-up a private OpenVPN server on my home router. The server is in TAP mode. The client is Windows 10 laptop. All traffic is routed through the tunnel, "anti DNS-leak" option of the Windows OpenVPN client is activated. This configuration works excellent during my trips around the world, except China and Egypt :)

Recently, while abroad (in Western Europe, so no Internet censorship expected), I needed to chat with my friend using Skype. I never used Skype since many years, but my account appeared to be still alive. So I connected succesfully WITHOUT VPN. But when tried to login in Skype through the OpenVPN tunnel, it failed. Stopped the tunnel - everything OK. Started the tunnel - no skype.

Any ideas how Skype understands that I try to use VPN? Theoretically it should not understand as I am using TAP mode, i.e. LAN bridge mode encapsulating Ethernet frames. Very strange situation .....
