I just found a solution to this (for me) very annoying problem and thought I would post the solution for those out there looking for it.
Windows 10 and 8 have an annoying tendency to decide what connection to use when you have 2, this may mean disconnecting you wireless when your connect a wired connection or vice versa.
There are plenty of people out there, like myself, that have 2 connections (wired and wireless) for a reason, and this behavior of windows was very frustrating.
The behavior is controlled by an (of course) obscure group policy key called "Minimize the number of simultaneous connections to the internet or a windows domain"- thanks Microsoft!
To change this behavior-
Run gpedit.msc
Group Policy>>Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>
Network>>Windows Connection Manager>>Minimize the number of simultaneous connections to the internet or a windows domain>>Set to disabled and apply
Voila!
P.S.- Microsoft- Make this option available under the network and sharing center, seriously! Setting the default to disabled wouldn't hurt either, most would prefer to control their connections on their own without Microsoft "minimizing" connections for them.
