For some reasons, when there are constuctions outside, they always hit the internet cable, dont ask my why, second time this year already, there was still power though :)

so obviously, internet was down, red light also on asus, quite normal
after 2 hours, thex fixed the cable , also my cable modem was connected again, i saw all lights on
but for some reason, my asus was not reconnecting, its just a typical connection WAN side, is just a dhcp client of the modem

so it was disconnected, and not connecting again, complained about something like, dhcp funcions modem not ready... , so i thought , ok , i reboot the modem, still no luck
so rebooted asus, and all was OK again
this is already second time

shouldnt the router not reconnect again?

When was the last time you did a full reset to factory defaults after flashing different firmware?

The strange glitch you're reporting suggests to me it may have been a while (or even never).

Moving from Asus official to RMerlin requires a full reset to factory defaults followed by a minimal and manual configuration of the router to secure the router and connect to the ISP. See the links in my signature below.

Hi, upgraded from original Asus to Merlin, about 2 weeks ago, when Merlin was out of beta... And did a colplcom wipe and everything is manually configured again from scratch, no baxkba files used

Hi I have same issue, have disconnections every day and usually router can't reconnect automaticly to isp(my modem restarted once-twice a day by ISP).
Router is ASUS RT-AC3100 with last merlin firmware+RT-68U as IMesh node, I dont think it's merlin related issue cause I switched to the merlin because this issue.
Even if I just reconnect WAN cable to the router it start communicate again, but it won't reconect by itself when internet back.
Any luck with your problem? Any solutions that you can share with me?

There is a new option that may help with your situation. Go to WAN - Internet Connection and set DHCP query frequency to Continuous Mode.

what improvements could we see compared to aggressive or normal mode?
If there is a problem with your ISP normal and aggressive modes will eventually give up trying to get an IP address after a certain amount of time. With continuous mode it never gives up trying so it can recover even when your ISP has an extended outage.

Thanks for your input but it still happening, my wife restarted router again to get internet connection. Here is modem logs if may help to understand root of the issue.

Clear

Exclusive for .18 or can this (also) be set via ssh?
The code for this DHCP mode didn't exist in previous versions so there's nothing to set.

Sorry, no idea.
