In the meantime I have my main router on the GNUton RMerlin firmware and the node on the beta firmware but still have these intermittent freezes that I can only avoid when reconnecting the wifi.     FYI - same problem on Mac and IOS devices came back. Have those session freezes regularly.

    Agree with Dodgydrains here. One more thing I noticed today is that the node rebooted all of a sudden. Had that with some of the earlier FW but never on 42095. I hoped that this merlin FW fixed that... Bummer.

    I have exactly the same issue. The only way to fix it was by setting both my XT8 into router mode. As long as I ran them in AP in an AiMesh environment the exact problems you described were there. I still do get them sometimes but less often. Now I am on the merlin firmware and it has been ok...

    One downside of this firmware is that if you reset router and node on an AiMesh system and start from scratch the router wont be able to detect the node and add it wirelessly. You will have to wire the node to the router to add it to the AiMesh. Other than that so far no issues. Been running it...

    Thanks for your replies. Highly welcome. Will stick to access point mode then and simply try to dedicate the backhaul or not and test performance. As for the aimesh 2.0. I read through the thread and it does not really look like any real performance gains but I might give it a shot.
