XT8 - Losing Internet WAN Connection

We moved into a new home last week where the only way I can connect my node to the main router is via wifi backbaul connection. I now notice an issue where the internet goes down despite my ISP’s connection still being green. When it reboot the router, it no longer connects to the mode and now...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.22068

I'm still on 42095 firmware as all other versions kept dropping the node. I'm using wired backhaul but I'm tempted to upgrade to the latest firmware as I know there have been some security updates along the way too. Curious, for those that do the upgrade, are you using all default settings or...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21617 (2022/11/21)

It really is remarkable that it keeps showing up as one of the best routers. I'd like to move on to another router that has better firmware updates. I just don't trust Asus any more to release stable and working firmware updates for their products. Unfortunately, I'm just not sure which router...

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21617 (2022/11/21)

I have found that 42095 is the only firmware that reliably maintained a wired backhaul connection. All the other firmwares I've tried would result in disconnections between nodes from time to time. So frustrating.

ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21617 (2022/11/21)

Interesting because 42095 is literally the only firmware that has worked right for me since the beginning. I have hesitated to upgrade my firmware as every time I try, things just got worse and I keep reverting back to 42095. Asus needs to get their act together, it shouldn't be this difficult...

Disadvantages of Access Points vs, AiMesh

Either way, I’m trying to better understand the ramifications of either setup. For my situation, I have my main ISP router/modem on the main floor and was going to connect my ASUS zenwifi on the top floor and one on the bottom floor I’m able to have them both wired to the ISP router since I have...

Disadvantages of Access Points vs, AiMesh

What would be the disadvantages of setting up my ASUS Zenwifi XT8 router and node as access points? I suppose that would not permit it to be setup as a Mesh network? What about Guest Wifi network? I’m assuming guests would only be able to connect to the primary router?

    Release Zenwifi XT8 Firmware 3.0.0.4.386_43170

I too would love to ditch my ASUS zenwifi routers and nodes but the issue with Orbi for me is they don’t allow you to split the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. That’s a must for me.

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

So are you having good success with smart connect? Nearly all the other posts/threads indicate that people are better off separating out the bands and directing certain clients manually to specific bands. Has Asus resolved some of the issues with devices bouncing back and forth and losing...

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

I’m wondering. Is it generally better to run separate ssid or use Mac filtering to prevent a certain device from connecting to a specific band? im thinking I could just filter the smart devices so that they don’t connect to 5Ghz band and still be able to use a single ssid which could improve...

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

If you don’t mind, can you share your other settings with me as well? Also, did you leave the 5Ghz-2 band alone? I have wired backhaul and wasn’t sure if I should unhide this band and name it the same as my 5Ghz band?

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

That’s a good point. So what is the ideal setup to provide maximum stability and speed throughout the house? until now I’ve been separating my 2.4ghz band and 5Ghz band. I use the 2.4 for smart devices and 5Ghz band mostly for laptops, PCs etc. I tried using smart connect in the past but found...

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

How does my iPhone have nothing to do with WiFi 6 when only certain devices support WiFi 6? So therefore, shouldn't I be able to tell how it's connected to the router? I'm assuming based on your other comment, I can click on the client list and check? I'll have a look, thanks!

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

Is there a way to determine if my iPhone 11 is connecting to wifi 6 for maximum speed? I have it connecting to the 5Ghz band but don’t necessarily see a way to confirm whether it’s connected using AX Wifi6 speeds.

Dedicated SSID For WiFi 6 Devices

I have the Asus ZenWifi XT8 router/node combination. They are connected via wired ethernet backhaul. Is there any way to setup a separate SSID that will strictly be used for WiFi 6 enabled devices? I currently have two separate SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and the other for 5Ghz. I tend to connect all...
