    I don't think that is true for the RT-N66U. I don't recall reading of speed issues on this model, and on mine the performance is, if anything, better than before.

    I had a similar problem recently but solved it after I found a thread somewhere which identified this as a side-effect of website checking by ESET antivirus software. In the ESET settings one can enter the IP address of the router as a known safe site, this stops the checking and the problem...

    I don't have a precise measurement but I think perhaps the signal downstairs on my iPad is a bar stronger than before (on 2.4 Ghz). This is comparing 374.40 beta 1 to previous versions: 3.0.0.4.220.18b - in use for the past year or so 3.0.0.4.374.39 - in use for the past week
