oops. sorry for only seeing this now. My script is still working for me without any changes, so I dont think the issue is there. Hope you solved it by now
Sorry for not posting my solution. Should have thought of it.
My script is very similar, with some added retries in case of failure, and discord notifications.
Thanks for cleaning up after me!
Edit:
Figured I'd add my (and ChatGPTs) script, in case someone finds it useful. I've added checks...
EDIT: nevermind, figured it out with chatgpt :)
Hello,
Running asus-merlin on RT-AX86U.
Recently switched ISPs and my new one isn't able to provide me with a static IP so I need to set up DDNS.
I'm in no way an IT/network professional, but more of a hobbyist.
I have a few self hosted services...
Hey,
Woke up this morning and noticed my services are not accessible. Looked around a bit and realized my port forwarding table is empty. tried rebooting the routers but it stayed empty. Also noticed that IP bindings and clients names and icons are gone. Not sure what else.
I have an ai mesh...
Wow. Before buying the 86u i've had the 68u for a few years and never experienced anything like this. It would just work. Now I'm terrified of upgrading the FW or even just rebooting the router. Kinda ridiculous. Thanks for the info regardless. I guess next time something like this happens I'll...
Well, it booted fine again now, after leaving it unplugged for a few hours, so I'm not touching anything :p but that's what I'll do if/when it happens again. Guess I'll skip 384.7.2.
Thanks for the help
So this morning after spending a few hours unplugged the router suddenly booted fine. It behaved oddly though, not seeing all attached devices, and of course without any settings. I made the mistake of trying to boot it again, and now it's stuck in the loop again exactly as before.
Does this...
Router was purchased in the US but I'm currently using it overseas. Theoretically I can send it to someone in the US and have it sent to Asus then they'll ship it to someone in the states who will ship it to me. It'll just take forever and if there is a way to unbrick it, I would much rather do...
I have. No dice.
Something strange I've noticed though - when I put the router is rescue mode I can ping it at 192.168.1.1, but when Asus firmware restoration utility starts looking for the router the ping stops as if it throws the router out of rescue mode. Strange stuff.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. Unfortunately, when I get to step 4 (kind of an important step) my browser doesn't load any page. Not at 192.168.50.1 or at 192.168.1.1. (surprisingly I am able to ping 192.168.1.1, but nothing other than ping).
So no CFE window for me :(
More ideas?
