    Just an update in case people are interested. I did an upgrade without reset, and it worked like a charm. All settings was presisted and the router behaves and performs as expected. I did take a backup of all settings beforehand, but did not need to use it :)

    Thanks, I just found that myself. Then I guess that, based upon my usage of the router, upgrading to Merlin is a good idea as the it seems the Merlin firmware enhances the original firmware. Anyone know the answer to question 2 and 3?

    Import config settings from rt-ac68u onto a rt-ac86u?

    Hi I have an old Asus rt-ac68u wireless router, and want to upgrade to the newer Asus rt-ac86u. Does anyone in this forum know if I can just export the settings from the rt-ac68u and then import them to the rt-ac86u? Or do I have to manually redo the whole configuration on the new rt-ac86u?
