Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 46E8 (Superseded)

Hi John, I hope you are doing well. I just came across an article in a German computer science newspaper about dnsmasq and newly discovered vulnerabilities. Some reference is here: https://kb.cert.org/vuls/id/434904 It is stated, dnsmasq 2.83 is the fixed version. A quick check on my AC68U...

    NVRAM [Release] NVRAM Save/Restore Utility

I am using latest John's Fork Firmware:374.43_44EAj9527 on my AC68U. And I definitely have these variables when I do an "nvram show", and they have the content which I put in on the Open VPN Client configuration page at the very bottom (custom) - see screenshot. Maybe the variables only show...

    NVRAM [Release] NVRAM Save/Restore Utility

Hello, using the tool recently (on an Asus AC68U), I noticed it does apparently not save the custom vpn client settings. Those are stored in five nvram variables: vpn_client1_custom vpn_client2_custom .. vpn_client5_custom Is there any good reason why they are not included in the variables...

    Overclock AC68U

Hi all, not sure whether this has been asked already. But is UNDERclocking possible too? To maybe decrease the temperature of the CPU a bit? Would be interesting... Many thanks Andi

Maybe your provider switched to CGN (carrier grade nat). I have the same with my cable provider in Germany... Andi

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi all, very happy user of this fork since I bought my AC68 router a while ago. Really pleased with the development on it and the expertise in this thread. Now, coming from a Draytek Vigor router previously, I am missing one smart function Vigor had: It could be configured, only devices with...

Yes, of course. Good old IT practise. That is why I asked whether a simple setting back to previous firmware is possible. I was just afraid John would have updated already to the new code base, which blocks downgrading via the web interface. But as this is apparently not the case, I am fine...

Many many thanks. Sounds too good to be true :) Then will go and upgrade after work is over (I need my line for work, so no experiments before). Have a great day Andi

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Guys, please excuse me if this was explained already somewhere. But before bricking my AC68U, I would like to quickly get confirmation: Status: I am currently on 17E8 still, and would like to update to latest official 19E3. Questions: 1- Is it correct I just flash the 19E3 firmware in web...

I use github.com for my public source repos and bitbucket.org for my private and development repos. This is a no-cost combination, works perfectly fine for me. Andi

The option was correct, however Merlin pointed out what was wrong, see below: Yeah, thanks. That was switched off. And now as I think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing that out. Andi

Ok, so you say they just try to scan port 22 from outside, and even though I have configured SSH to not listen on the wan interface, these logs are normal? (this is an UK ip address, I am in Germany): Jul 7 18:09:39 RT-AC68U-3228 authpriv.info dropbear[8260]: Child connection from...

Hm, but then I do not understand how attempts to the routers SSH interface can be possible from external IP addresses outside of my LAN. This is weird... I will try to further investigate that. Thanks Andi
