Why Asus new Password security policy is ridiculous

Oh, ok. Thanks. Then I do not even try. Bummer. Andi

Why Asus new Password security policy is ridiculous

I see a shell script /usr/sbin/chpasswd.sh in the routers file system. As parameters it expect username and password. I am tempted to try it. But before I get brave enough, maybe someone else already tried it and can comment? Thanks Andi

Why Asus new Password security policy is ridiculous

Maybe a stupid question, but can I set my password also from within a SSH session by some command(s)? And if so, is the password check done in the backend or in the UI? Maybe there is a (temporary) way around this specific new Asus requirement. Only for people that can assess and accept the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Hi all, I searched around a bit, but did not get any conclusive answers, so I fire my question quickly: This firmware on an RT-AX86U Pro works almost perfect for me, I was just encountering glitches while using Guest Network Pro with networks that are "scheduled". So if, for instance, I...

    Merlin on RT-AX58U V2

@ColinTaylor Oh, I overlooked that. Awesome news, many thanks! Worth giving a try I guess.

    Merlin on RT-AX58U V2

Hi all, hope this is not a stupid question, but as I still see the restriction to V1 of the RT-AX58U in the wiki... has anyone any news on V2 support? I could perfectly live with the Asus stock firmware, however I just now exceeded the DHCP fix IP assignments of 64 machines. Usually the Merlin...

Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 46E8 (Superseded)

Hi John, I hope you are doing well. I just came across an article in a German computer science newspaper about dnsmasq and newly discovered vulnerabilities. Some reference is here: https://kb.cert.org/vuls/id/434904 It is stated, dnsmasq 2.83 is the fixed version. A quick check on my AC68U...

    NVRAM [Release] NVRAM Save/Restore Utility

I am using latest John's Fork Firmware:374.43_44EAj9527 on my AC68U. And I definitely have these variables when I do an "nvram show", and they have the content which I put in on the Open VPN Client configuration page at the very bottom (custom) - see screenshot. Maybe the variables only show...

    NVRAM [Release] NVRAM Save/Restore Utility

Hello, using the tool recently (on an Asus AC68U), I noticed it does apparently not save the custom vpn client settings. Those are stored in five nvram variables: vpn_client1_custom vpn_client2_custom .. vpn_client5_custom Is there any good reason why they are not included in the variables...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Well, meanwhile I found in post 9285, John personally published this link long ago. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-v39e3.18914/page-465#post-482576 So I would be inclined to rather trust it after seeing that (unless his account got highjacked). Andi

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Sorry guys, to "warm this up" again... but is there now a common consensus, this development area on onedrive really belongs to John? And we can highly assume, everything posted there is coming from John? I am tempted to install latest posted version, but some other voice tells me I should...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi all, quick question, maybe somebody has a handy solution for this already. After the latest hack on various IoT devices, I would like to shield my IoT devices from the rest of my LAN. I know I could achieve that by having them logging into a guest Wifi network, which I can set to be AP...

Oh dear, you are damn right. I was connected to a VPN when I tried. Working now. Thanks for the hint. Feeling stupid now :) And then I can confirm, all working as it should for me. Andi
