    There are other reasons why I'm using Merlin, such as custom DDNS, cron and VPN routing off the top of my head so I really don't want to go back :)

    ASUS RT-AC3200 not entering rescue mode

    Just wanted to chime in as I had the same issue with the router not responding to pings in resque mode. On a whim, I unplugged it from the LAN 1 port and plugged it into the LAN 2 port and it responded to pings at once. I was able to flash the firmware using tftp.
