Ah, but the LEDs did not fail, all lights came up after resoldering the originals.

While all the lights worked after the repair, one started playing up after just a day. This was fixed by adding some extra solder, so I suspect that not enough solder was used originally (I used flux throughout).

Hard to tell as I got it from Goodwill already with the LED issue, but it can't be that old being AX and version 2 of the model (RT-AX58U)

The reason I put it here is that I initially thought it might be a firmware issue. No pictures and the LEDs are so small I could not really tell.

Most of the LEDs on my RT-AX58U v2 did not work Resoldered them and they now all work, including the WAN when up.

Hardware issue: I resoldered the LEDs and they came back to life.

Just to report I got the C&K switch from Digi-Key (black stem) and it works just fine ($7 with postage).

From what pictures are here the problem seems to be with switches that have blue stems. Mine is fine (albeit blue) but having got this far I decided to order one (non-blue) from Digikey; hopefully it is the right one. https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=PN12SJNA03QE They also stock a...
