Thermostat network problem, RT-AX88U Pro on 3006.102.4

I have an older Honeywell thermostat that looks like this: Initially I had WiFi connection issues though the AC86U was in line of site, 10 ft away. I determined that there were many other WiFi nearby using the same channel. I moved the 2.4 GHz channel to another lesser used one and no longer...

    AX86U Pro as NAS

Background: I had two drives attached to a Raspberry Pi that I used as a NAS. NAS usage is low as it is for archives. The first drive was the active archive and the second as backup to the first. At oh dark thirty every night an automated script would perform the backup. It worked. Alas, the...

    RT-AX86U Stock Or Merlins?

IMHO, if your needs are basic such that plug-and-play solutions typically satisfy your requirements then staying with stock firmware would be adequate. If you have networking requirements that are served best by Merlin firmware then that is the way to go. I started using Merlin firmware in my...

    Best range?

In terms of of overall tech specs, the Pro is better. How much better would you realize is dependent on your usage. In terms of RF power and antenna I suspect that both models are about the same. In a 123 year old house or any house for that matter, it’s all about horizontal and vertical reach...

    Losing ethernet connections

Would it be possible to temporarily replace one of the cameras with a 1 GB device to see if it has the same issue? Are all the video cameras the same brand? Model?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

A LG C4 is not an older device. Not to nit pick but the wording should read something like “Some devices may not support 1 Gbps Ethernet.” A device doesn’t have to be old to not support.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

The suggested cause of the yellow indicator failed to include possible cause as being a speed limitation of the device attached. I have a LG C4 as well and by design, LG has chosen to have a 100 Mbps Ethernet.

Tutorial Change Wireless settings that have improved TimeMachine stability

After experiencing persistent instability issues, I discontinued using ASUS Time Machine several years ago. I subsequently explored various alternative solutions, but none of them proved to be reliable. I have been using an external SSD for the past several years and my MacBook Time Machine...

Asus RT-AX88U internet speed slows down after a few days

I read through all the posts but I need to recap where I believe you’re currently at. With the physical setup of ONT <—-> ASUS the internet speed appears to half after a period of time with an ASUS reboot resolving at least until the same period of time passes. With a physical setup of ONT <—->...

Problem with Wi-Fi using new RT-AX86U Pro router

I have Smart Connect, the same SSID, and my 2.4GHz devices have no issues. Those devices are a LG Washer, LG refrigerator, weather station, Canon printer, Leviton outlet, and Honeywell thermostat.

Problem with Wi-Fi using new RT-AX86U Pro router

I am thinking that your laptop is connecting to 5GHz but after a while it goes to just 2.4GHz. Here is how I have my Wireless setup:

Losing internet every 10 days or so with Telus ISP and RT-AX86U (Merlin 3004.388.8_4)

Okay, now I am showing my age. At inception, a modem (modulate/demodulate) was a dumb device that would transform digital data into an analog wave form so it could use available telephone lines. IBM was one of first to introduce a managed modem wherein modem test commands were injected into the...

Losing internet every 10 days or so with Telus ISP and RT-AX86U (Merlin 3004.388.8_4)

I hope you'll agree with this explanation of modem/NID modes: Bridge Mode - ASUS router assumes the IP address assigned to the modem/NID. This saves the ISP from having to use one of its available IP addresses which then can be assigned to another modem/NID This is typically a static assigned...
