    IS AMTM broken currently?

no, the reboot did not work, but I have reinstalled entware which recognised the prior installation, and everything seems back to normal. It is somewhat extraordinary that download manager thing remains as some legacy app when it causes this kind of mayhem! Again, many thanks to all for the help!

    IS AMTM broken currently?

Ok, it looks like there is some sort of fundamental conflict between Entware and the download manager. I'll try to uninstall it from http Edit: OK, uninstalled and Entware still showing as not installed. Think I will try to reboot the router and see if it fixes itself, but will do that later on.

    IS AMTM broken currently?

Thanks for replies, and yes, @Ripshod I can ping it! But I can also access network shares located on the USB, and when I healthcheck scan it from the http interface it does not seem to report any errors. But in the terminal I get the sense that it may be the Entware installation that is somehow...

'Latest' Asus stock firmware version AX86U??

Yep, but I am currently experimenting with retiring the AX56U, hoping the AX86U gives me improved coverage in the couple of deadspots I had round the house befpre. So far looks promissing, but kids will no doubt be stress testing vigorously later tonight, and complaining bitterly in the morning...

'Latest' Asus stock firmware version AX86U??

I thought I understood from the documentation somewhere, that if you ran stock Asuswrt firmware on nodes, you could automatically update via the AsusMerlin gui (Admin). Seem to have had only somewhat patchy success with that tho!

'Latest' Asus stock firmware version AX86U??

Thanks. My intention was to leave the AI node running stock Asuswrt, I was just surprised to see when I checked for updates in the mesh master or whatever the term is, it reported a different version as being the latest compared to the Asus site. At least as I understood it, anyway!

'Latest' Asus stock firmware version AX86U??

Just bought an AX86U to use as a Mesh node, so was intending to leave it running stock. Went to upgrade firmware via Merlin running on my 88U, and noticed the 'latest' version reported there was not the same one as reported on the Asus site (a later number 3.0.0.4.388_24231 vs 3.0.0.4.388_24198...

Remote Access with Enable Access Restrictions ON

Well it does seem my assumption that a MAC address is available for SSH clients via the Arp table was mistaken. My bad

Remote Access with Enable Access Restrictions ON

i don't understand what you are talking bout. MAC addresses are hard coded into network interfaces. Yes, they can be spoofed by a malicious attacker, but an attacker would first have to know what specific MAC address had been whitelisted in the scenario I outlined above. Good day to you

Remote Access with Enable Access Restrictions ON

Right, and what I have in mind is SSH as the primary remote access control, with something like a MAC whitelist operating on wan connections as a second layer of security. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable trying to implement this, but should be possible via Iptables as I see it!

Remote Access with Enable Access Restrictions ON

Question answered! This feature would imv be significantly more useful if it implemented some sort of MAC filtering! I don't suppose there is a feature request list somewhere?
