For a moment there I thought this might be it, though upon closer inspection, it says PCIe 3 on the case.
Upon even closer inspection, this looks to be passive/dumb.
Anyone knows of any active (i.e. no mobo bifurcation needed) x16 NVMe add-on cards that are PCIe 4 (preferably 5)? I’ve seen plenty of PCIe 3 such cards, though nothing beyond that.
In the market for a 10GbE all-NVMe NAS. I have been giving ASUS' FS6712X a long hard look. My main concern: how can the N5105 possibly handle all that??? The N5105 only has 8 PCIe 3.x lanes: how could that accommodate 12 NVMes + one 10GbE (among many others)?
Alright guys, got my router, installed it, and things are fine. Many thanks to all of you who helped make this purchase. Here's one question for all of youse: the default router setting assigns each of the LAN Ethernet ports a separate subnet (192.168.10x.xxx): is there anything ... superior...
Thanks, I saw that review. It's more of an unboxing and a parade of specs rather than an actual "put it through its paces" kind of thing. I would have loved to see a few benchmarks, to see if it indeed delivers on the promised 10Gbps throughput (or something close). Anyway I have already ordered...
Spec-wise, the 322 sounds AMAZING! EXACTLY what I have been looking for! Reviews on Amazon, however, are a downer. I will, nevertheless, order one asap, and test it.
Excellent find! Many thanks for the recommendation!!!
I do not need dual 6GHz radios, no backhaul needed, no mesh scenario. I do need at least two 10GbE LAN ports though, and the BE98 Pro is the only one that offers that, unfortunately.
I have also been contemplating the eero PoE Gateway (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HJNCG81?tag=snbforums-20), though it's awfully expensive, and Dong doesn't like its wired performance, which, indeed, looks laughable:
I have been looking long and hard at that one for the past month. I need at least two (ideally three or four) 10GbE LAN ports, and one 2.5GbE or better WAN. The Omada does not have that.
Thanks, I have, indeed, been thinking about building my own router, though I am having trouble finding a barebone computer that is small enough to hang onto a wall where my present router resides. Recommendations welcome.
Router needs at least 2x10Gbps LAN ports, and ideally one 10Gbps WAN port, but I could settle for a 2.5Gbps WAN if need be. The Omada wired router does not have that, the Mikrotik does. As for my ultimate purpose, I need something that does the same things (qualitatively speaking) but better...
The choice is between the ASUS wireless router on the one hand, and the combination EAP783 + https://mikrotik.com/product/ccr2004_1g_12s_2xs#fndtn-specifications on the other. Which one would be better?
I have been looking at this: https://mikrotik.com/product/ccr2004_1g_12s_2xs#fndtn-specifications for a new wired router. Will this deliver better wired routing speeds than ASUS's GT-BE98 PRO? It's certainly older than the ASUS.
