Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

I don't think I saw this happen back when I was using 384.19. Also I'm using diversion lite with only standard lists. Router ram usage wasn't that high and I also had a 1GB swap, that wasn't even used. This was like the third time dnsmasq acted up on v386, two of those needed factory reset...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

Dnsmasq is very wonky on this version. I've reset my router to default twice already. CPU 100% Dnsmasq restarting itself/ clients losing connection. I only had diversion and native ipv6 enabled. This time I won't install any scripts. Also, wireless when set to auto sometimes selects in between...

(Help) Bufferbloat/Increase of latency on Wifi

It's normal to have higher wifi latency when the link is saturated. Cake Qos doesn't do anything to wireless bufferbloat. Anyway, you shouldn't be saturating the link that close to the router assuming you're using a good AC client and 5Ghz band. When I was testing Wifi on the ac86u I found...

Bug? Asus RT-AC86U running 386.2.6 - Total loss of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi after some days

Even with factory reset, If my router decides to set wifi 2.4ghz to some in-between channel my devices can't connect to it. But this is in every firmware, since 384. This router is good in performance, but I think i'll be my last broadcom based router. My next router will be something that...

Bug? Asus RT-AC86U running 386.2.6 - Total loss of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi after some days

On my ac86u if I leave 2.4Ghz wifi on auto channels it sometimes stops working because automatically sets channels weird like to 9. If i manually set it to 1/6/11 I never have issues, 1 month uptime on some devices. Asus firmware is very buggy. Always was, and always will be. Another Issue I...

    News [ 386.3_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I did, but doesn't say anything about that. I'm asking because the latest oficial version for ac86u includes that fix. I hate how slow v386 has been while transfering files from usb, with cpu maxed out.

    News [ 386.3_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Is this based on 3.0.0.4.386.42643 for AC86U that includes the fix for high cpu usage?

ASUS router vs Netgear Nighthawk for gaming

How can the ax86u have lower latency? I have ac86u and I get on average 0.2ms with a cable to the router. And about 1ms with 5ghz wireless. I could see a bit lower wifi latency but not with a cable.

Wired ping spike when pinging router

Yes, when cpu gets to 100% or close you get higher latency to router, around 5-6ms in my case. My connection is not fast enough to cause this, soo not a problem for me and I don't use or care about VPN, I want maximum performance with low latency. Anyway I reverted the TCP Optimizer changes to...

    very much wow.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2 is now available

I've never seen USB transfer speeds soo slow as today with 386.2. I knew they were like much slower than 384.19, but if a torrent client is running in any client it slows down to a crawl. With both cores to 100%, and that's with USB 2.0!!! Yes, 2.0 only, i switched to it because 386.2 was soo...

Wired ping spike when pinging router

Go to device manager, network adapters. On the advanced settings tab you should see interrupt Moderation. TCP Optimizer also eliminated the wifi spikes I had. Same computer, AX200 client connected to 5Ghz. Tweaks: Packet Coalescing off, Global BG scan blocking always. Wifi latency on my desktop...

Wired ping spike when pinging router

Are u using a laptop or desktop? Disable all power saving, set high performance power plan, disable C-states. On the Intel Lan advanced settings, disable packet aggregation, interrupt moderation.

Wired ping spike when pinging router

Well, that tool fixed it for me, but my spikes were 100% caused by windows. What's your setup? Have you tried to install latest build? With factory reset and jffs format. A fresh is the best way to try to figure these things out. Another thing that really helps is to disable Interrupt...

Wired ping spike when pinging router

Well, I decided to try to run TCP Optimizer with optimal settings and guess what? Not a single ping spike after. I was right, windows is soo bad... They don't care about low latency at all. I have no idea what fixed it, since that tool changed a lot of settings, but I would be cool to find out.
