Merlin FW and VPN Setup Questions. ...Confused

Only your first reason would be possible without a VPN provider. An OpenVPN (or any VPN) connection needs to have someone on the other end with an internet connection. Also tracking and ads seem to work pretty well even when using the VPN, they track with a lot of different methods, not only...

How to connect a device using Internet Connection Sharing

Actually the way windows network sharing works is that it makes a new network, there is no way to use it to attach your TV to your main network. Theoretically you should be able to open the needed ports between the TV and your phone but as you found this is not that easy. This should work...

    Many SSID's - don't worry...

I do not believe I will ever forgive the industry/government that thought this was a good idea. This metaphor does get the issue across very well, can you imagine trying to drive down a 16 lane freeway with a car several lanes wide!? Why can't we draw new lanes? It is true that usage is...

Can is use wireless N as Router and AC as access point?

Wired networking performance has not changed in a while, I am sure the AP Extreme N can do wired routing fast enough to have your ISP connection be the limiting factor (unless you have a really fast connection?). The only reason you might want the newer router for wired routing performance is...

    iPhone/iPad slower internet speed

Real world with light interference you should see about half the link speed? So you need the 135/150 Mbps wide band 5 GHz link to saturate a 60 Mbps WAN? I assume you are talking about link rates as 1x 802.11N's max link rate is 65 or 72.2 Mbps. EDIT: Sorry, of course you are talking link...

Delayed push notifications Asus RT-AC68U - HTC Desire S

I can only offer a few random things to try: Try turning off Universal Beamforming, it is on the professional tab of the Wireless page. I would also set Preamble Type to short, I doubt that has anything to do with your issue but it should help performance a tiny bit. You could also try...

    RT-AC68U paired with PCE-AC68

Right, 802.11N maxes out at 450 Mbps for 3 spacial streams. Three stream 802.11AC theoretically could hit 1300 Mbps but 1053 Mbps is closer to reality (the slowest QAM 256, 3/4 QAM 256 with a 800 ns guard interval, instead of the fastest mode possible; 5/6 QAM 256 with a 400 ns guard interval)...

    Load Balance doubt

Load Balancing sends one connection out one WAN and another out the other. This means some connections will have 150/15 while others will have 200/100. If you get the 150/15 connection your upload will be much slower. If you were to benchmark while using load balancing you could get a...

    wmm apsd?

I am pretty sure that setting has nothing to do with multimedia. WMM APSD is a QoS setting which, when enabled, allows some devices to go into a lower power and higher latency state while others stay as low latency as possible. WMM = QoS and APSD = Automatic Power Save Delivery. Edit...

Distance between Modem and AC68U Router

I have done this, I plugged the modem into infrastructure ethernet (probably ~150' of cat 5e through the walls) and the other end into the AC68U instead of the switch. It worked really well with a 1Gbit link between the router and modem.
